New Study Validates Sickle SCAN's Excellent Performance and Feasibility in Community Screenings
Dr. Obiageli Nnodu, a renowned professor from the Department of Haematology & Blood Transfusion in the University of Abuja and a leading expert in sickle cell disease, has recently published her findings from a preliminary evaluation of BioMedomics' Sickle SCAN test for its performance and viability in community screenings.
Performance characteristics of Sickle SCAN were evaluated by result comparison with cellulose acetate electrophoresis (CAE) and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). And the acceptability and feasibility of the test as a tool for sickle cell screening was evaluated using questionnaires completed by healthcare professionals and patients.
The results showed Sickle SCAN's outstanding diagnostic sensitivity, specificity and test efficiency and also concluded that Sickle SCAN is a "viable screening tool that can easily be applied in community-based screening for early diagnosis of sickle cell disease with little expertise and low cost."
