Sickle SCAN (TM) Could Revolutionize the Outlook for affected Children Born in Resource-limited Sett
Professor Thomas N Williams is a professor of Haemoglobinopathy Research in the Department of Medicine at Imperial College London. He is also a Wellcome Trust Senior Fellow in Clinical Science.
On Sept.23, 2015, Professor Williams published a commentary article which described the Sickle SCAN (TM) test in detail, and how it could revolutionize the outlook for affected children born in resource-limited settings. The commentary stated: "If repeatable both in newborn babies and under real-life conditions, and if marketed at an affordable price, Sickle SCAN™ could revolutionize the survival prospects for children born with SCD in resource-limited areas."
